The
investigations regarding ex-president Lula are a chaotic scenario made up
by Brazil white middle class (who voted for PSDB) and the political
losers of the last presidential election. These groups are using all
their power to try to make sure Lula will not run for president in
2018. But, on the
contrary of what they expected, Lula already signaled that he will
run for president in 2018.
Why is it a
problem for the traditional white Brazilian middle class? Because
the very poor, who were benefited by the various governmental
programs (and still are) will massively vote for Lula, as he was the
only president to look after them.
All the
polls we can find in Brazilian media do not include the very poor
people from the interior of the country, and these are the people who
voted massively for PT and Lula.
Also, the
image of Lula still is very strong among the very poor (who are
majority in Brazil). This group does not care if Lula is or not
involved in corruption scandals, but that Lula looked after them as
no other politician ever did.
